My friend Dami, a true cat enthusiast, would have cherished today’s encounter. This ginger tabby reminded me of her beloved Miles, a soul mate she lost three years ago. ago. Miles was also a ginger tabby. According to Dami, Miles was not just an ordinary cat but her soul mate. She still misses him dearly and it pains her to even talk about the loss. The relationship was so powerful and meaningful to her that nothing will ever compare.
Dami’s influence has transformed my perception of cats. Her love for them encouraged me to pause and connect with this mystical feline, deepening my appreciation for these enigmatic creatures.. I was never a cat person in the past, but having now spent quality time with Dami’s two new cats, I have developed a great appreciation for the feline species. I have become quite comfortable with them licking me, lying on me, and sometimes even sleeping in my arms. They are indeed very mystical creatures, and it is no wonder that they figure prominently in the magical traditions.
Earlier on, I spent quality time reading a new book I acquired from a very dear friend, Jain 108 from Australia. He considers himself a Mathemagician and has developed a reputation for being a leader in the field of Vedic math and sacred geometry. His focus these days is on the mystical traditions and significance of the number 108. His new book is called the Phi Code of 108, and it is compelling reading. I sat peacefully atop a rock in the forest today, appreciating the gentle breeze on my body and the natural sounds. Jain’s book became my companion today, and reading it reminded me of how much I miss his presence in my life, and how, although our paths have been very different, we are attuned to a similar vibration. The mystical nature of 108 is just one of those connections; numerology is another, and so too are magic, paganism, raw food, the Vedas, Krishna, sacred geometry, and our personality types. During my reading, I got a little tired, so I stopped and did some deep breathing exercises, drawing the fresh forest air deep into my lungs. After just a few minutes, I felt totally invigorated and was able to read with full attention for another hour.
Later, I visited Pirate Jason, a new friend in New York whose offbeat appearance belies a genuine kindness. His friendship is a testament to the unexpected connections life offers. I gave him a medicinal plant to care for while I am traveling. Jason is the kind of person who, on the surface, appears very offbeat, but in fact is one of the kindest and most genuine guys one could hope to meet. He is someone who will always be very honest with you. I value his friendship a great deal. Thank you, brother, for your kindness today. I needed it.
My journey continued into Manhattan, where I returned a book and embraced the tactile joy of selecting a new journal. This simple act reminded me of the grounding power of pen and paper. I’ve taken to the old art of writing with a pen! How revolutionary. I have a feeling that more and more of us will take to pen and paper again. This technology, for all the advances it offers, is really destroying our connection to our earth/heart (another contribution of Jain), what to mention radiating our brains. I picked up a nice recycled notepad made in Nepal, and upon returning to the car, I found that the parking meter I chose to use today was number #108 !!! I smiled and thanked the Universe for confirming to me that what I had been reading was indeed profound and meaningful. It is these seemingly mundane and inconsequential moments that can often have the most impact on us if we allow them to. It all depends on how much we are ready to accept these life experiences in the mood of a “student”, rather than an ignorant victim harassed by seemingly random and meaningless events, and thus missing the plot.

Having read Jain’s account of how he came to change his name from Colin Saad to Jain and then finally Jain108, inspired me and made me realize that I had done the same thing without any prior knowledge of his decision to do so. For me, it just felt right. My actual spiritual name is Priyavrata das; however, all my close friends have called me Priya (beloved) for the last 26 years. A few years back, I started adding the number 108 because of my appreciation for the mystical nature of this number; my passion for sacred geometry, and because it conveniently represented the bhakti path I have traversed up till now.
Today, it became clear that Jain and I share a profound connection, transcending physical boundaries. Our shared appreciation for the mystical number 108 and sacred geometry unites us.. To that end, I have made the decision to visit Australia and catch up with family and friends like Jain. Just need to find that passport!
