Three Modes of Eating

Even food
comes in three, don’t you see?

There’s a
rule that determines quality.

Modes of
nature—controlling human life,

if we don’t
learn the science we’re in strife.

Pure life,
strength, health, and happiness,

belong to
those in the mode of goodness.

Juicy,
wholesome, and pleasing to their hearts—

enlightened
eating, sets them far apart…

From those
in passion, who hasten to their greed;

no
discretion, brings them misery and disease.

Bitter
salty, pungent dry, and very hot,

moderation
in life, they think not.

Worse than
them, my dear friend, is one more—

foolish
creatures, who follow no one’s law.

Darkness
rules, these poor fools—try to see,

eating
flesh, they digress to the beast!

What we eat
will determine destiny.

Man’s
intelligence his essential quality

Discrimination
the ability to discern:

what is
right, what is wrong—we must learn.

Come to me
I will show you how to eat—

pure food
and satisfaction without meat.

Food for
body and your soul—all in one;

it’s
delicious, sanctified—prasadam!

Fruits,
vegetables, milk*, butter* and cheese*,

wheat,
pulses, rice—honey if you please.

Ask the
Lord to enjoy from above.

Divine
food—saturated with love.
